Program Abstract

Firefighters and fire investigators are only a few of the many people who work at post-fire scenes. Crime scene investigators, canine handlers, witnesses, medical examiners, claims adjusters, remediation personnel, attorneys, and juries enter post-fire scenes. But, unlike firefighters and fire investigators, these other occupations often don’t receive the same safety training or are issued the proper PPE for the hazards of post-fire scenes. Everyone who works near, at, or in a fire scene needs to be empowered with the knowledge and equipment to protect themselves. This module is “PPE 101” for all personnel who operate at post-fire scenes.

CFITrainer.Net recommends that you complete the following modules before taking Personal Protective Equipment for Post-Fire Scenes because they provide more in-depth information on hazards and exposures that you should know before learning about selecting PPE to mitigate those hazards:

Note: This is a basic, awareness-level PPE module, not a HAZMAT course.
