This is a question that is often asked by the claims professional of the fire investigator. This presentation will focus on the changes to the 2021 Edition of NFPA 921 Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigation and how those changes might affect who answers that question and how it is answered. The answers might surprise you. The instructors for this presentations are both 30 year plus veterans of fire investigation. Randy Watson is the immediate past Chairman of the NFPA 921 Committee, IAAI 1st Vice President and Senior Investigator with SEA, Ltd. David Row is a retired fire investigator from a major insurance carrier’s fire investigation team. Prior to that, he retired as a Detective Sergeant of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office (MI) Fire Investigation Unit. Mr. Row is an IAAI Life Member, an IAAI CFI, IAAI ECT, IAAI CI, and chair of the IAAI Nominating Committee. He has served in various positions in the Michigan Chapter IAAI, Michigan Arson Prevention Committee, and the Oakland County Association of Arson and Fire Investigators.
